30 by 30 update

So apparently I haven't published since September...terrible. I write all day at my job, then have a couple hours to spend with Kai another hour or two with AJ. Between all that, blogging just hasn't been at the top of my mind. So now it's a new year and it's about time that I got to posting again.

California coastal highway
Let's start the New Year with a look at my 30 by 30 list. When I wrote it, I had 4.5 years to complete it. I'm now at 1.5 years to go and I've got 13 of 30 left to complete. Not bad, but I did the easier ones first of course. However, AJ and I have finally had to opportunity to plan the California road trip we've always wanted to do and I think I may be able to knock a few more off this year. Here's how the list stands:

  1. Blow up at least 3 of our own photos to use at art in the new house
  2. Make a calendar in Photoshop to give as Christmas gifts
  3. Teach Snax a new trick
  4. Serve at a soup kitchen at Christmastime
  5. Take a wine tour
  6. Play ice hockey
  7. Try (and hopefully enjoy) running
  8. Bungee jump
  9. Road trip down the California coast
  10. Scuba dive
  11. See the Goo Goo Dolls in concert
  12. Go on a short term missions trip with AJ
  13. Weigh 160
  14. Read the favourite book of at least one friend each year
  15. Spend New Year’s downtown in a big city
  16. Read the Harry Potter series
  17. Spend a day painting on canvas
  18. See the Grease musical
  19. Take kickboxing
  20. Learn to drive stick (better)
  21. Go white water rafting
  22. Pay off our debts
  23. Recover the dining room chairs
  24. Learn to sew so I don’t have to get my mom to fix my buttons
  25. Get a great permanent job
  26. Buy a design program (probably Photoshop)
  27. Host a family Christmas
  28. Bake a pie from scratch
  29. Be in a play
  30. Have a baby

I think most of these are do-able and the other might become do-able, you never know.

4. Serve at a soup kitchen at Christmastime – this can for sure be done. I know people who do this and need to make it a priority this year.

5. Take a wine tour – This is on my list for California and should be checked off by June.

8. Bungee jump – Maybe in California?

9. Road trip down the California coast – yes!

10. Scuba dive – I don't want to just do this in Kempenfelt Bay, so we'll see if I can make this happen.

12. Go on a short term missions trip with AJ – My church is doing this next year, so maybe.

13. Weigh 160 – We'll see...

14. Read the favourite book of at least one friend a year – This is going strong. I need to find one for this year.

15. Spend New Year's Eve downtown in a big city – This may be more likely when we have older kids.

17. Spend a day painting on a canvas – This may turn into an hour instead of a day, but I have tons of painting Pinterest projects I would love to do.

20. Learn to drive stick (better) – AJ, I'll need some more lessons once the snow is gone.

23. Recover the dining room chairs – I have had one chair with the seat popped off for over a year and just haven't done it because I can't figure out how to do it. I need to get on it though.

29. Be in a play – Not sure I have the time for this, but I'll keep my eye out for an opportunity

Looks like I need to get started!
